The Tiwa people of Picuris settled in the hidden valley as early as 1150 AD. A surge in prduction from the Taos area occurredaround 1250 when villages on Pot Creek were abandonded. Over the next three centuries a large pueblo of seven to eight stories high was constructed, one of the largest in the Pueblo region... Original art by Douglas Johnson.
