Robert Tenorio Pottery Shell Ornament

Robert Tenorio is a famous potter from Santo Domingo Pueblo. He made this pottery ornament in the shape of the shell jewelry worn by pueblo men close to their throat. A large shell has a mosaic of turquoise, jet, and white shell. In Robert’s pottery version, the designs are painted on. This pottery can be used as an ornament on a southwest Christmas tree or worn as a necklace. Each one is about 3 inches in diameter (8 cm.).
